Skip Lunch Fight Hunger with City Harvest

It’s that time of year again! Join Benchmarc Events in the fight against hunger in New York City! Our team is raising funds for Skip Lunch Fight Hunger (May 13-17), City Harvest’s annual campaign that asks New Yorkers to donate what they would normally spend on lunch to help feed New York’s hungry children and their families.

During summer months, access to free school meals may become limited, adding strain to families who already struggle to put food on the table. You can make a difference by donating today! Even a small amount helps City Harvest rescue and deliver good food for hungry children and their families.

Still No Thanksgiving Plans? Benchmarc Events to the Rescue!

Sticking around NYC for this Thanksgiving, but don’t feel like cooking? Fear not, Ditch Plains UWS is serving up our family-style Thanksgiving menu and we still have some open reservations available! The Turkey Day menu includes beloved classics like brined whole turkey, caramelized shallot mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, and also some traditional sides with a Ditch Plains twist such as corn fritters with maple butter.

If you’re around but already have Thanksgiving Day plans, why not stop by Landmarc in the Time Warner Center or Ditch Plains UWS the night before to catch a glimpse of the balloons being prepared for the parade?!

As if you needed another reason to come out, we’ll be donating $5 from every check on Thanksgiving day to City Harvest to help their post-Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.

City Harvest’s The Brooklyn Local

If you’re looking for some last minute plans this weekend, come visit us at The Brooklyn Local at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park this Saturday. The artisanal marketplace will feature some of Brooklyn’s finest purveyors and its best gourmet and specialty food items. Even better, this is a fundraising event for one of Benchmarc Events’ favorite charities City Harvest.

Stop by tomorrow from 11am to 6pm when Ditch Plains will be selling our Ditch Dogs, lobster rolls, and ditch’wiches! See you there!

Join us for Smorgasboat!

Get out your boat shoes and join us for Smorgasboat on Wednesday June 13th! The party cruise onboard the East River Ferry will support City Harvest, a charity that is very close to Marc and the Benchmarc Events family.

Benchmarc Events will cater the event with featured local food vendors from Smorgasburg. And we’ll be sure to quench your thirst with Brooklyn Bridge Wine Bar, Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn Roasting Company and Reyka Vodka also onboard! Your ticket includes food, drinks, the cruise, and the after party, which will take place at the King & Grove Williamsburg rooftop bar. City Harvest Holiday Party

Welcome to Best of Benchmarc! We’ll be featuring the best of our Benchmarc Events vendor partners, favorite recipes, fantastic clients and unique event venues! The events world is full of great people, places and food & drink and we want to share the best of what we see.

Our first posting is about one of our favorite clients AND favorite charities, City Harvest. City Harvest has been serving NYC for over 25 years now and is the world’s first food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the city’s hungry men, women, and children. Chef Marc Murphy is a board member and a member of City Harvest’s Food Council.

Benchmarc Events had the privilege of catering City Harvest’s holiday party this year at their new food distribution and warehouse center in Long Island City. City Harvest drivers, warehouse employees, office employees and more were in attendance and shared in the festivities by enjoying ditch dogs, orechiette alla norcina, the Holiday Harvest cocktail and more. Thanks for letting us be a part of such a great event, City Harvest!
